Reading is truly magical because anything can happen. When we read a book, we get to experience life in a whole new way. We can suddenly travel to other places, see the world differently, and learn something new. With historic fiction, readers can use their imagination to feel as though they are a part of an ancient civilization. With science fiction, readers can be a part of something totally new and otherworldly. With fantasy, readers can feel as though they are a part of some of their favorite fairy tales. They can take part in slaying dragons, going on various quests and adventures, and interact with creatures far different from those in the real world.
The key to untapping the magic of reading is to read what you enjoy. I understand that there are some things that are required reading for school. Absolutely, read the required reading assignments, but don't let that stop you. Find a book that interests you, and go for it. Soon enough you will experience the magic and wonder of reading.
